Does Mark Grace belong in the Hall of Fame?

balltos are out today, and with a new Cub name on them. Mr. Mark Grace is on the ballot for the first time. Now take off your Cubs hat and put on your baseball fan cap. Does Gracey belong in the HOF? Why or why not?

16 Seasons ... 173 HR ... 1146 RBI ... 2445 Hits ... 511 2B ... 1179 Runs ... .303 BA ... .383 OBP ... Above average defense at 1B: Equals a good baseball player. But not a hall of famer. Beyond the numbers that can or can not get a player in the hall of fame, you have to ask 1 question: Was this player considered one of the best players during the time in which he played? The answer for Grace would be no. Grace was good, and i'm glad he was on the team I rooted for. He's just not a hall of famer.

No even though he had the most hits in the 90s and probably the most ladies as well. I am not sure what I am more jealous of.

I don't think his stats are good enough for the Hall. He does have a HoF personality, but not the stats. Who knows? Maybe the BWAA might get him in because he's a good guy to go to for quotes.

Mark Grace was one of my all time favorite Cubs. However, he does not belong in the HOF. Nevertheless, there are many who are in the HOF that don't belong there, making the HOF very flawed,in my opinion.

The HOF should be designated for the best OVERALL players at their positions during their era both offensively & defensively. Some players like, Ozzie Smith, who was one, if not the best ever to play SS, couldn't hit a lick, therefore, I don't believe he belongs. Phil Rizzuto's another one who's stats don't come close to deserving of the HOF. He benefited on being surrounded with some of the best players ever to play the game. I also would never agree with any DH being inducted into the hall, b/c I don't feel that position has any business being part of the game.

The HOF should be for the elite players like Willie Mays,Babe Ruth & Johnny Bench.

my thoughts exactly. he was a really good player, but its the hall of fame, not the hall of really good.

More hits then anyone in baseball in the 90s, but that doesn't get the job done

In the era of steriods, I think alot of numbers from the 1990s are going to be viewed skeptically, even if there were put up by the likes of Mark Grace, who used substances that were the opposite of steriods.

As much as I love Gracie... he does not belong in the HOF.
