Lineup of the future

I know we should focusing on the here and now as the 07 season is almost upon us, but after reading some stories on veal and szmardja (sp? to lazy to look up) i couldnt help but think of our lineup of the near future. here's mine:

Soriano RF
E Paterson 2B
D Lee 1B
A Ram 3B
Barrett C
Murton LF
Pie CF
Cedeno SS

Z
Hill
Szmardja (sp?)
Veal
Prior/Marshall/marmol

I left out the bullpen cuz I'm lazy. What i like about this lineup is that most of the players came out of our system and have the potential to be impact players relatively quickly. Which also means that we can keep a deep and talented bench and bullpen since most of those guys will be relatively cheap and we can trade marquis and lilly after next year if they aren't earning their money. I put Pie in the 7 spot just b/c im not sure where else to put him with soriano leading off. Cedeno is there b/c i think he will eventually develop into the player we all thought he can be.

I think someone already posted a thread like this recently so if this has been discussed already I apologize

I'm hoping for a lineup like this. I dont think Cedeno will be the answer at short and Pie could still be a bust like many other highly touted Cubs prospects.

Soriano RF
Furcal SS
Lee 1B
Rammy 3B
A. Jones/T. Hunter/Rowand/C. Patterson CF
Murton LF
Barrett C
E. Patterson 2B

Rotation

Zambrano
Prior
Wood
Hill
Miller/Marshall/Guzman

Of course the SS depends on if Hendry or whatever GM signs Furcal in 2 years when he's a FA and i do think we'll wind up parting with Jones, just so we can go after one of the premier CF's. The rotation for me is just wishful thinking but if Prior/Wood/Miller are healthy theres no reason not to have them in the same rotation after this year.

Edit. Looking back over the rotation i forgot Lilly is signed for 3 more years after 07

I'd like to see Aaron Rowand back in Chicago, too...except with us. That guy gives it his all out there in the field.

I would rather see Reyes at SS.

Furcal is very very over-rated and I never wanted the drunk.

C. Patterson is never coming back to the Cubs.

I like the other ideas, but Prior should be at least the No. 2 pitcher.

But we need more left handed hitters. (like Pierre!!!)

This lineup of the future, is it complete fantasy or somewhat reality? I'd lve to see Tejada at short, but it's remote, as is Furcal or Reyes.

I do think Pie is the real deal, and I like the fact the Cubs are takng time with him.

Pie CF
Soriano RF
Lee 1B
Ramirez 3B
Murton LF
Barrett C
Theriot SS
Patterson 2B
(Insert Pitcher Here)

I don't feel like doing a rotation just yet...

With Furcal we would have a 1,2 in the order with speed, power, like the Dodgers have right now....just minus the power cause lets face it, Pierre was fun to watch but he's just a singles hitter, his arm was weak and the reality of the matter is he's not that good defensively....he's not terrible, just not as good as everyone thinks because his speed makes up for all his misreads of the ball. On the Patterson subject...ya never know, he could come back. If he builds on his rebound season last year and turns in another one why wouldnt Hendry want him back. Dusty and all his coaches are gone it's a new regime. As long as all the ******* fans shut the **** up and stop booing, Corey could easily come back as he's a cheaper solution than A. Jones or T. Hunter and lets face it this Soriano/Jones experiment is only gonna last this year...we'll need a true centerfielder.

Chinmusic's lineup looks more likely though.....but if Theriot is gonna be the SS 1 of 2 things better happen....He better turn out to be a 300 hitter or at least a decent hitter with some power. I'm not sure i like Pie in the 1 hole, i'd move Soriano back to 1 and insert Theriot or E. Patterson in the second slot and then move Pie way down in the order........keep him comfortable so he can relax...oh yea Reyes would be sweet but prolly wont happen and Rowand like Patterson could be a cheaper alternative in CF

A-Rod at SS?
He loves Uncle Lou,he has not been loved in the big apple,if we could get him
for mostly prospects, and not half our starting lineup how sweet would that be.
Soriano,DLee,Rameriz, and ARod in the same lineup?
It is not as far fetched as you might think.
[he can opt out of his contract after this season]

C Pat back in Chicago???? Never, no way, no how. Maybe on the southside. We burned that bridge to the ground.

Another thing, where is Lilly in everyone's future lineup??

Lastly, Wood will never be a starting pitcher again. He can't throw over 50 pitches an outing.

I dont see wood starting again either, I like theriot at SS but does he have the range? Does remind me of eckstein. my rotation is interchangeable, have prior at 5 b/c he hasnt proven that he's bounced back yet. If healthy yes definately 1 or 2. By what im hearing from cubs.com Szmardja and veal will be better than marshall or marmol (granted, you do have to take everyting they say with a grain of salt) If we see Pie come around like they think he will, JJ will be gone by this time next year. We can trade hime for bench depth when Floyd's achilles explodes. With all the money we save with the young talent, we can get a top notch closer.
