White Sox trades Dye to the Reds.... for Bailey

Get ready NL Central... Jermaine Dye is now a part of it! The White Sox traded him to the Reds today for 22 year old RHP Homer Bailey.

Walt Jocketty said the deal is false, and he hasn't talked to the White Sox since before Thanksgiving. The White Sox only getting Homer Bailey in return for Dye seemed fishy to begin with.

I hope so.... I don't want to see Jermaine Dye in the NL Central! As for Homer Bailey, I do believe he was a first round draft pick and was highly looked upon in baseball as a future top pitcher. I just hope they didn't try to bring him up too early, as his numbers last year were not what the Reds were hoping from him, so I think his trade value may have dropped significantly.... it does seem like a far shot. I wouldn't mind seeing Dye in a Cubs uniform!

You're right on all accounts. I want no part of Jermaine Dye in the NL Central! Not only is he an underrated player both offensively and defensively. But he seems to have the Cubs number. ..... And Bailey was a highly rated prospect prior to last year. Infact he was ranked as a top 10 prospect in all of baseball. But the Reds brought him up before he was ready, and he was exposed. He pitched awful at the major league level, and continued to struggle when he was sent back down to the minors. It's funny what a year can do to the value of a player. Last season Homer Bailey could have netted the Reds Dye and alot more from the Sox. This season he probably couldn't get them Nick Swisher.
