Orioles going four man roster

I have been saying for some time now , that I would not be surprised to see this come back. The economics of baseball will push this to be a more reasonable solution to the ever increasing price for pitching. The more you pay for a pitcher the more innings you will want to get out of him. Much like a salary employee , you don't want to be paying a guy $40,000 a year and have him work only 4 hours a day you will want a complete eight from him.

I would love to see the 4-man rotation come back. And long relief that can actually go 5-6 innings of good pitching and start well in case of injuries, etc (sure could have used good log relief on Opening Day!). Blame L.A. for the 5-man nonsense - a couple of decades ago they simply had too many pitchers and didn't want too lose any so - viola - they went to the 5-man rotation. Everybody followed like sheep and now nobody can pitch more than 225 innings a year or 110 pitches a game. Boo. Give me the Ferguson Jenkins and their 35+ starts and 275 - 300+ innings any time. Remember - you worst (5th) starter takes starts away from your best. That just sounds bad.

4 solid starters, 3 top-notch long -relief/spot-starters, 2 closers (one primary) and two set-up men - your pitching staff. Use them well.

And make them run and throw when they aren't pitching!

How freakin bad are the Orioles ?? They may be on the way to being the worst team in the modern baseball era.

They are 4-18 . This is the team Andy McFail built. Damn I am glad we are rid of him.
