As soon as a Cubs' transaction takes place - no-matter how small - I'll post it here.

The Cubs lost Liam Hendriks via waivers, in-order to select Brett Marshall off waivers from the Yankees.

Marshall is a young (23-years-old) pitcher, with upside. In 2013, Marshall was ranked as the Yankees' 7th best prospect. So why did the Yankees put him on waivers? Well, they really didn't want to. But the Yankees have signed so many players this offseason - most recently Carlos Beltran - that they've had to free-up spots on the 40-man roster. The Cubs - who haven't signed many players, thus having room on the 40-man roster - we're waiting in the wings, ready to pounce.

Marshall probably won't make the team out of spring-training. But since he's still got options, the Cubs will stick him in AAA and allow him to develop.

The Cubs didn't wanna lose Hendriks - who's a lot like Marshall - but Baltimore snatched him up at the end of the waiver-wire. The Cubs went with the younger, more controllable player.

Not sure why the yankees would let him slide to waivers if he was that promising......especially for an aged injury prone beltran.

Beltran had a fabulous season, last year. Injury-prone or not, he's an awesome hitter.

The Yankees simply ran out of room on their 40-man roster - due to the abundance of players that they signed. Marshall was a top 10 prospect in their system, last season, and the Cubs just got him for free. It may never materialize, but it's a no-risk acquisition, with an upside attached.
