Today in Cubs history: April 25

In Dodger Stadium, all the elements for a Norman Rockwell painting are in place as a father and son with an American Flag take in the game. Except they also have a book of matches and a can of lighter fluid and are running out into left center to make a statement. Cubs CF Rick Monday runs over, captures the flag, and instantly becomes a national hero.

April 25, 1876 Chicago wins its first National League game, beating Louisville, 4-0. Five months later, the organization won its first NL pennant.

April 25, 1976 Outfielder Rick Monday rescues an American flag from two protesters attempting to burn nation's symbol in center field at Dodger Stadium.

Happy Birthday to Jaque Jones 32
