Thumbs up Mariotti is gone-don't let the door...

...hit ya on the rear on the way out!

Quote:
Sports columnist Jay Mariotti has left the Chicago Sun-Times to pursue other opportunities. Mariotti, also a regular panelist on ESPN's "Around the Horn," joined the Sun-Times in 1991.

Oh, man, this man's articles used to get me so angry at times.... he was VERY anti-Cub. And i know he has had many run arounds with many of the sports figures of chicago.

I wonder what those "other opportunities" are? A columnist on ESPN.com?

I was listening to ESPN 1000 on my way to work this morning, and they were bringing him on the air, but because he was coming on the air (and I hadn't heard this news yet) I turned the station to 670 the score because I can't standing listening to Jay... he is soooooo arrogant.

HAPPY DAYS!! A Collective sigh Heard 'Round the Midwest!!
I subscribe to the Sun Times, and I generally pass up the first page since I read mine from the back to the front. What a drillrod...He has stated he does'nt have a fave team, let alone one in the town he "writes"in.
R.Telander owes him a black eye!
Let the East Coast welcome him in the fold,he's all yours-Fuggetaboutit,get a cab Tool!

I bet Ozzie isn't shedding any tears.... he and Ozzie had a BIG fiasco earlier this year... and wasn't it Rick Telander (a fellow sun-times reporter) that went rounds with him too? A lot of people really criticized him when he would really rip into someone (ozzie for example) and yet never meet face to face with those people... he hid behind his column.

I read the on-line edition of the paper and on countless times i have noticed his articles are filled with arrogant comments, false statistics and egotistical self promotion. I couldn't stand his articles, i couldn't stand him on ATH, and if he go's to ESPN it will be fitting because they have the worst collection of sports writers i have ever seen.

Mariotti may be a jerk, but he got people talking sports. Too often sports writers play to the ears of its cities sports fans. They are kinda like the head cheerleader of a fanbase. I would disagree with Mariotti plenty. But he knew how to stir the pot and get people talking.
