Bucs at Bears

An old friend comes back to town when Brian Griese starts at QB for the Bucs sunday against the Bears. Well maybe not an old friend. More like that guy you used to work with who's name you could never remember because he really didn't do anything that deserved any kind of name recognition. The Bears will be running into that guy again. And trust me, they don't remember his name! .......... The Bears certainly have some rebounding to do sunday. They have to get past blowing a 14 point lead in the second half on the way to an ugly loss this past sunday. It has to start with one thing: Better field position to start drives. The special team has to execute better on kick and punt returns. No more of these silly penalties that put an already conservative offense on their own 10 yard line to start drives. .......... The Bucs are going to be alot like the Panthers. They are going to try and win with solid defense and a solid rushing attack. Like the Panthers the Bucs are going to throw two very different types of RB's at the defense in order to mix things up. Warrick Dunn is going to try and beat you off the edges like Deangelo Williams. And Ernest Graham is going to try and run you over like Johnathan Stewart. This week the Bears must win the battle upfront in order to win this game. Brian Griese is not going to beat you with his arm. Trust me the Bears are very aware of that! Dusty Dvoracek is going to be the key guy upfront for the Bears. His ability to stop the run is his strength. It's also something Tommy Harris doesn't do well. Dvoracek, rookie Marcus Harrison, and the line backing core need to get the job done at the line of scrimmage in order to win this game! .......... Against an old but crafty defense the Bears really need to mix things up on offense. You can't rely soley on running the ball against the Bucs. They will contain you if you're one dimensional. Hopefully Kyle Orton can complete on some posts in order to open things up for Matt Forte. Expect Desmond Clark to be involved heavily Sunday! .......... Pretty simple game for the Bears sunday. Don't allow the Bucs to run the ball! With Hester questionable for the game the Bears will have even more pressure to execute on special teams. With that being said I think the first home game of the season gets this Bears team fired up. Desmond Clark, Brian Urlacher, Dusty Dvoracek, and Matt Forte will all play key roles in sundays game. Bears 24 Bus 13.

Well I totally missed this one. Griese needs some ice on his arm after throwing 67 times. BS personal foul call on Peanut Tillman. It should have been called also on the TB Olineman. Stupid mistake though.

Another 2nd half lead results in another blown game for the Bears. Like a bad Brian Griese pass that Nathan Vasher can't intercept, this Bears game slipped right through their fingers! .......... Kyle Orton started awful throwing 2 picks, one of which was a horrible screen attempt. However he finished solid throwing for 2 TD's in the 2nd half. His favorite target was Brandon Lloyd who caught 6 balls for 124 yds and 1 TD. Ron Turner decided to be an offensive coordinator in the 2nd half and actually opened things up a little. But don't get too excited Bears fans the real conservative WR quick out Ron Turner will show his ugly face again next week. The offense played solid in the 2nd half. This game wasn't their fault! .......... Mat Forte continues to impress! We've learned that he can find a hole with his good vision and run through it with power. He's shown us that he can break a big one in Indianapolis. This week he's shown us Matt Forte the WR. Forte had 7 catches for 66 yds and 1 TD on sunday. He ran routes well and showed great hands. For once it looks like Jerry Angelo drafted a good one on offense. Shoot with his track record we'd take offensive guys that he drafts being able to stick on the roster! Regardless Matt Forte is making Jerry Angelo look very smart. .......... The Bears loss came down to one thing: LACK OF PASS RUSH! Where was Tommy Harris on Sunday? Where was anyone on the front 4 when it comes to pressuring the QB? Brian Griese threw the ball 67 times. Yea that's right 67 times! Yet the Bears had zero sacks. Griese had way too much time in the pocket. That was evident in the final drives of both the 4th quarter and OT. The only pressure the Bears put on Griese was from blitzing a safety. This Bears defense is built on pressure from its front 4. They can't afford to blitz because their DB's aren't good in coverage. So when you can't get pressure on the QB a very mediocre QB like Brian Griese can dice through Nathan Vasher and Charles Tillman with ease. Look the defense sunday was great against the run. Dusty Dvoracek and Lance Briggs lead the way in plugging up Ernest Graham. And the defense committed its usual bunch of turnovers with 3 interceptions and a forced fumble. But this Bears defense has gotten tired 2 games in a row in the 4th quarter with a lead. Maybe this defense is getting old quickly? Either way defensive coordinator Bob Babich really needs to get things together, or Lovie is going to take some heat for hiring him in the first place! .......... Whether it's a Robbie Gould missed FG. A Nathan Vasher dropped interception. A Rasheed Davis dropped pass. Or a Charles Tillman STUPID penalty. The Bears made a ton of mistakes to give the Panthers the game. Lovie really needs to dicipline this team! They seemed like a very tired team on the field. They also seem like a disorganized group of players who get into scuffles on the field far too often. Lovie has plenty of changes to make this week in preparation for the Eagles. It will be intersting to see what changes are visible against the Eagles.
