Apparently they believe in Grossman, or did not see a real opportunity compelling enough to pick a potential replacement. And, of course, drafts are all potential just after the draft.

IF the kid Williams works out well and Tait still is an exceptional RT then both pass and run blocking look to be substantially improved. Last year I worried about the line a lot.

IF the 2nd round RB (Matt Forte) proves he's what they've been looking for then the running game might finally approach what we Bears fans expect from the team of "Red" Grange, Bronko Nagurski, Gale Sayers, Walter Payton and even Neil Anderson. I have a feeling he might but we've had real bad luck here recently (Rasham Salaam).

IF the big DT (Marcus Harrison, considered a 1sr round talent with "issues") they took in the 3rd round is a completely adequate nose tackle type replacement for "Tank" Johnson the line might be in good shape again.

IF the WR from Vanderbilt (Earl Bennett) could be like the departed Mushin Muhammed was when in his prime the wide receivers might be approaching good.

And so on and so forth. 12 picks overall I believe. A lot of interesting picks (like the pair out of Michigan State). Steltz might be a delightful throwback to the days of Plank and Fencik and other run crushers who made you think twice about entering the bears backfield. (My memories of Doug Plank are simple. Split seconds after every play this body went flying horizontally over the tackle pile: Doug Plank, looking for someone to clobber).

The Bears may have added a heck of a lot of talent exactly where they need it, or they may have picked up a bunch of risks and projects that essentially will bring about a change of management.

Pretty strange to go from the Super Bowl to almost rebuilding in 2 years.

Basically it seems to me if they have reconstructed the offensive line to a quality level and added 2 strong new offensive threats (at RB and WR) in addition to the bolstering of the "D" they just might be very competitive again.

But QB, always an issue with the Bears: QB.
