LaRussa to stay with the Cardinals

Tony La Russa will return for his 13th season as manager of the St. Louis Cardinals, agreeing to a two-year contract after a difficult season in which his team failed to play .500 ball. "I'm real pleased it worked out," La Russa said at a news conference Monday. "I'm thrilled to be back."

I am not surprised, but relieved that I know that Joe Torre will not be managing a team in the NL Central! .

Didn't Torre manage the Cardinals after Herzog left??

A more likely scenario has Torre taking over the braves after Cox retires.

Apparently the Indian VP of baseball operations, Antonetti met with the Cards over the weekend and he is their top choice to replace Jocketty.

This would probably top anything anybody else does in the offseason in the NLC, short of the Cubs signing A-Rod
