I wish the Cubs would stop drafting high school players with their top picks, i.e. Dopriak, Montanez, Harvey, C. Patterson, Pawalek, Christensen. I guess McPhail/Lynch drafted most of those guys, but still.

Now there's reports that Vitters looks absolutely terrible and has made little or no progress since last fall.

He's in the extended ST/Boise group as of now, so who knows. Apparently he had mono sometime last year, so he may have lost some weight/muscle.

I didn't see any write up on Vitters struggling in camp. Did I miss something?

The Cubs drafted him in June & he played for about a month & a half in Rookie ball, most of which he played with phnemonia. His struggles LY in very limited time & unhealthy are really irrelevant.

I still haven't seen any legit source saying he has struggled this year in camp.

The ESPN dudes didn't have nice things to say about him this spring

In any case disregard, it looks like he is going to Peoria soon (along with some cool pics of Ryno taking BP with the team)

Other Chiefs ranked in the Cubs’ top 30 prospects by Baseball America are outfielder Kyler Burke at No. 13, Rhee at 16, Hernandez at 17 and pitcher Ryan Acosta at 21.

Third baseman Josh Vitters, the Cubs’ No. 1 prospect, is starting the season at extended spring training but is expected to be assigned to Peoria at some point this spring.
