DUNN SUCKS! There is a reason why the only team he might go to is the Nationals. He sucks in the field and never hits in the clutch. Enough with Dunn. The guy is a God awful fielder. Stop playing Fantasy Baseball. I know there are people on this board who look at numbers and think a player is worth his weight. Enough Jay Mariotti enough.
Article from espn
Quote:
Dunn is making $13 million this year, and if he's going to earn that kind of money in his next contract, the consensus is that it will be with an American League club. Sports Illustrated recently polled 449 major leaguers on the question, "Who is the worst fielder in baseball?" and Manny Ramirez led the way with 16 percent. Dunn and Jason Giambi finished tied for second with 9 percent of the vote. They're all free agents (along with Pat Burrell and Bobby Abreu), so it's clear that bats will be more abundant than gloves this offseason.
but what do I know. Seriously who would the Cubs not want to make the worst defensive outfield in history? If Mariotti says it I guess we all must be stupid.

I like the idea of signing switch hitting CF/RF Milton Bradley. He seems like a good fit. The only concern I would have is his injury history. I'm not concerned about his character like a lot of critics are.

Abreu is as bad as Dunn in the field. There's a reason the Yanks didn't even offer him arbitration. Soriano has made some goofy plays in the field but he is not as bad as people make out, mainly due to his arm which cuts down on runners attempting extra bases.

BTW Hitting in the clutch is one of the worst stats to use. It is variable from year to year. Using 'Hitting in the clutch' as a judgement of a players ability has led to such glorious Cubs transactions as Jeremy Burnitz and Neifi Perez. Dusty Baker loves talking about it. Enough said.

You can be condescending to Bims as 'Marrioti' or 'Beane-lover', but using ESPN of all sources to back up your argument is hilarious. These people thought Melky Cabrerra was suitable for the centerpiece of a potential Yankees-Twins Santana trade.

According to ESPN's 'close and late batting average' (which is a bunch of BS) which Player is Dunn, which is 2008 Cubs mvp and dreamboat DeRosa who according to many should be in RF, and which one is overpaid K-king choke artist Soriano

A. 260 BA
B. .188 BA
C. .206 BA

I don't mean to be condescending, but this is why it's stupid to judge 'hitting in the clutch'. You could look up the players numbers for a different year and they could be completely different.

Dunn could have also have been moved to 1B once DLee's contract is up. So RF probably wouldn't have been his position with the Cubs for very long.

Milton Bradley may not be all that bad . If we can get him for one or two years he would be a good signing. I think we need an ass on the team , someone with a killer instinct.

At the very least, Bradley will be getting a 3 year deal.

This has nothing to do with ESPN it has to do with MLB players saying he stinks in the field but what do MLB players know You and Mariotti seem to know better.
Dunn stinks in the field. This isnt fantasy baseball this is real world where these guys actually have to catch the ball. You guys want that outfield you are crazy.
People look at stats and say look how great this guy is. HE STINKS IN THE FIELD! He would be booed out of the stadium game 1.

If defense is the concern in RF, then Milton Bradley or Bobby Abreu aren't the guys you want either. Neither is significantly better defensively then Dunn. But Dunn is significantly more productive at the plate then both. If defense is such a concern, then the Cubs should simply stick with Fukudome in RF. You know why the Cubs aren't doing so? Because defense isn't a big concern.

Again this isnt fantasy baseball. He is not Barry Bonds. He is terrible. His defense is so bad he is recognized by his peers as YOU SUCK! That is bad. I dont care if you think he is such a great offensive force his defense is so bad no one wants him.
