No, but anything can happen.

Yesterday the Rockies got shut out by the Pirates. After LAD the cubs have a relatively weak* schedules until the end of September and have only two series against contending teams.

*I'm not sure how to define weak/mediocre based on the way the cubs are playing.

Who knows ?

Is this a good enough team to make the playoffs three years in a row ? I don't think so. Our schedule mirrors the Cards with fewer days off . I have more faith that the Cards will not fail more than I have of the Cubs winning. I guess I would say I really doubt it.

The Cards will make it because they went out and added offense, unlike the cubs

Freddie Sanchez.

But he would just be a thumb in the dike.

2009 seems to be swirling down the drain. I'm pizzed and I hope I am wrong.

Even if they do, does it matter? It is obvious we can't hang with top caliber teams. I'd rather miss the playoffs than go another year of 3 and out.

I don't know about that, I think I would rather make the playoffs and go O-fer 9.

SIDE NOTE - How is the first round only best-of-5??? That is ridiculous!

The divisional round is best-of-five so that the post-season doesn't go into November, or at least too far in to November. In fact, the LCS used to be best of five between 1969 and 1984. It became best-of-seven in 1985.
