Detroit Tigers interested in Milton Bradley

Rumor central: Detroit Tigers interested in Milton Bradley?

Comments

July 25, 2009
BY ADAM L. JAHNS Staff Reporter
Milton Bradley to the Detroit Tigers?
According to an internet report, the Tigers are interested in Bradley -- no doubt the most scrutinized player on the Cubs this season -- and believe he could work well with manager Jim Leyland.
Sources told David Kaplan, a host for Comcast SportsNet, that the Tigers "have scouted Bradley and are interested depending on how much of his contract the Cubs are willing to eat.''
Bradley was not in the Cubs' starting lineup Saturday against the Cincinnati Reds, but Cubs manager Lou Piniella said before the game he was given the day off and that he would be in the lineup on Sunday.
Acquired in the offseason as that big left-handed bat the Cubs have been missing, Bradley has been anything but. He is hitting just .242 with six homers and 22 RBI.

We'd have to eat a lot of contract to unload him. What do they have for us in return?

I don't see it happening.

Steve Stone actually first "twittered" it... but the Detroit GM is now denying it saying Bradley is not a "fit" for his team.

Dave Dombrowski and Jim Hendry both denied it.

It seems like Steve Stone pretty much made it up out of nowhere, and his little pet Dave Kaplan followed up on it.

To me it makes sense for an American League team to want him. His problem is he cant catch up to fastballs batting LH. In the softball league called the AL, they throw a lot more bvreaking balls and offspeed pitches.

It sounded like BS. There is no great upside for either team .

Mickey Mouse

BTW this thread reminds me of when everyone thought Dave Dombrowski was the greatest GM in the world.
