wrigley field
gosh i love the place but its pretty bad when people are calling it a dump...will they build a bigger one or just trying to keep improving it...
if they make a new one IF they do, it needs to be bigger but they need to keep the ivy, scoreboard, flag, more seats, and some of the historical stuff there

Welcome to fogpog, there CubsSlugger 23. I think those who think Wrigley Field is a dump are probably not the people with a true love and passion for this team, the history, and just a love of America's pasttime! It is the most beautiful place on earth, in my opinion.

It shouldn't be torn down but I hope the new owners renovate the hell out of it.
If STL can tear down one stadium and build another in one offseason I think we can install more restrooms and reinforce the upper deck (poles MUST go) without causing too many problems.

wrigley is like church to me but something will have to be done soon. if yankee stadium can get the ax than no place is safe. If the new owners decide to build a new park im sure they will be smart enough to keep the things that make wrigly unique. they'll go with the whole seamless transition thing i would hope

Wrigley isn't going anywhere. Some people who don't even like the Cubs go to Wrigley just to say they have seen in, its a baseball mecca.

Yea I definetly think the new owner should help improve Wrigley. I love the place, and of course all of Wrigleyville, which is why I don't want them to build a new one, just some offseasons where they renovate the hell out of it would be nice. They definetly need to find a better way to support the upperdeck so that the poles are gone, and maybe raise it a bit so the seats in the back of the lower section have a better veiw of the whole game. And find a place to add new seats. Maybe adding a 3rd level? I'm not much of a building or engineering guy, so I have no idea how hard it would be do to stuff like that or if it's even possible, but it would be nice. But definetly get some better bathrooms.

If they built another one the old one cannot be tore down it is a historical Landmark those not allowing it to be tore down. PLus with the Wrigleyville expansion going on around it, Wrigley is not going anywhere.

Let's look at what gives Wrigley it's character:
-The neighborhood. Obviously we're not moving to Wheaton.
-The bleachers. Brand new, best part of the park got even better.
-The bricks and ivy. No problems there.
-The facade. Here's the sticky point. Why not just completely tear down the superstructure, putting in more luxury boxes, better (and roomier) seats and sections, a brand new, larger upper deck, new clubhouses (players HATE the current ones), more restrooms and fan ameneties, and just restore the current facade/signage and place it on the new structure. The bleachers and field would stay as is.
Let's be honest, would anyone really miss the cramped, decrepit ramps and current box seating? Seems the best way to satisfy all concerned.

My dad said if they built a new one it'd be out by O'Hare. I think that's a really stinky location for it.
