Cubs-Nats-Red Sox Trade rumor!

Cubs- Red Sox, Nationals deal ?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I know that some posters here get upset with these kind of post, but it makes for discussion. I am getting tired about discussing how bad Kaz Matsui is. Anyway i was searching around other pages and saw this:

This is from a emailer of mine who also emailed me about the Marquis deal a week before it happened, but he also emailed me the Cubs were getting Renteria last year but that didn't pan out. So here it is take it for what its worth-

This is a move for the ages. The Cubs are in discussion with Boston and Nationals about a blockbuster deal! Here is the scoop-

Cubs get Ryan Church and JD Drew

Nats get CoCo Crisp, Matt Murton, and Ryan Dempster

Red Sox get Sean Marshall, Austin Kearns, Ronny Cedeno, and Wil Ohman

You heard it from Prophet79 first. Remember I tipped you off on the Marquis signing!

Take it for whats its worth. It seems fair to me but this could just be one of the unfounded rumors. Lets see if anyone else can confirm this trade or at least tell me if it has some truth to it.

Hate it! I don't want an overrated/overpaid outfielder who can't stay healthy. Plus I think we need to keep Marshall, but they can have cedeno and Ohman.

wont happen.

why would we get good players for our crap? Ohman is garbage. Cedeno cant get a hit to save his life, Demps is good as is Marshall, and Murton cant field

I'd take Ryan Church........Losing Demp, Cedeno, Murton, and Ohman isn't too bad although I would like to keep either Murton or Cedeno because the potential is there....not all that crazy about J.D. Drew but he is a left handed hitter.....not a horrible deal and not a great deal in my eyes.

Sean Marshal is real good trade bait . Marshall = Hill they are the same type of a pitcher and it doesn't make sense to have both in the rotation .

Ryan Church = Matt Murton
Matt Murton = Ryan Church

Why would we trade Matt Murton for Matt Murton? Why would you mix up team chemistry that we may FINALLY have by dumping a good clubhouse guy in Dempster and basically the same player in Church/Murton. Drew is NOT a good option for the money he gets paid. Not gonna happen.

huh, interesting. Not all that likely but interesting. I would take Ryan Church as I think he would do well at wrigley, surrounded by a good team and awesome fans. JD Drew, bleh, not with that huge salary. (The sox way over-paid for him) I'm all for sacrificing some pitching to get the corner outfielder we need, but 3 major-league quality arms is too much. We would need to fill a rotation spot and 2 BP spots (1 if you give the spot to Hart I guess but we would still need another lefty in the pen) I dont really see a lot of improvement with this deal.

I thought I've read in the past that both Drew and church are clubhouse evangilists (spp??) types. I doubt this rumor is true, although I've been a strong advocate of Church; I wouldn't think he would replace Murton as much as be an awesome 4th OF, since I believe he plays all 3 positions, and a good 2nd option to Pie.
