Piniella 4th in Manager of Year Voting.

Bob Melvin (Arizona) - Charlie Manuel (Phils) - Clint Hurdle (Colorado) - Piniella: 1-2-3-4.

Wedge wins in AL:

From the Sun-Times. Lou's observations on 2007 and beyond:

" ..... ''I think the players there carry the burden of all those teams that haven't gone to the World Series,'' Piniella said when asked about the reasons for a championship drought that could reach the century mark next October. ''I wasn't aware of that, but I sensed it during the course of the year.

''And there's no need for it. Every year it's a new year, a unique year. And you learn from the past, but you don't dwell on it. But I think maybe because of the media harping on this, there's always a constant reminder that the team hasn't won in so long. It puts a burden on the players. ..... "

" ..... ''We're close,'' said Piniella, who hopes to have a quicker team and at least one run-producing left-handed bat in his lineup by next season.

''We've got a nice ballclub. From an offensive standpoint, we just need to diversify a little bit and get away from trying to win with home-run balls. ... How close are we? We're not that far away from being one of the top two or three teams [in the National League].'' ..... "

Both managers were deserving of the Awards. Melvin's team wasn't expected to go anywhere but he got them to the NLCS...Clint Hurdle should have got at least second and probably first because well, his team SWEPT BOTH the other managers team's right out of the playoffs! But these awards are normally a joke *cough* David Wright 21 errors winning the Gold Glove.....B.S. WTF???? *cough*.
"You guys better hurry up and ask me quick, because one more Bloody Mary and you're not going to understand anything I say." -Lou Piniella at the Cubs Convention.

I agree, Melvins team had nobody thinking they were going anywhere.

And yeah, WTF is up with that? 21 errors, more like popularity vote. it's BS
