Padres looking to trade for Murton?

FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal says the Padres are now targeting Matt Murton as they continue to try to fill their hole in left field.

Murton is available, but the Cubs don't know if they'll need him later to pull off a bigger deal. He's also in play in the Marlon Byrd talks with the Rangers.

Maybe we could trade Murton for that Mark Prior guy they have! LOL! (that's just a joke, guys!) Besides that, I don't think you can trade a guy who is on the DL! LOL!

I wish I could bump this to the bleachers but MLBtraderumors.com has speculated that the Cubs might by pass the Murton for Byrd trade if they could get Kahlil Greene from the Pads. I would think that that is fairly obvious. Greene is a stud in the field and has improved every year at the plate. I personally be ecstatic for Greene if they could trade for him then extend his contract. He is going to continue to improve. BUT, it is all just rumor blog speculation and
i don't see the Pads trading Greene just for Murton.

I would guess that we would have to throw in another prospect like Gallagher or Marshall....one of those two then a lower level prospect.....I'd be good with that.

I would trade Gallagher but not Marshall. That's just me. Marshall has already shown his stuff on the big stage.

Sign me up for that

Hendry has done well trading with the Pads.

Murton still has a good amount of value. 4 years left before FA, young. He will bring a nice return in a trade. I'm not sure the Cubs will move him, he fits nicely for the Cubs as a 4th OF & back-up to Soriano.

I agree with that 100%, but we are in Jim Hendry-land.
