Brewers get Suppan

4 years/ 42 million

I'm kinda surprised he didn't get more because of how other pitchers were paid. Still overpaid though.

This gives the Brew Crew some legitimacy. Sheets, Capuano, Suppan and Bush (and whoever in the 5 hole) is a good rotation. They have some nice young hitters. They should compete. The central is not gonna be a cake walk by any means

Looks like it's going to be a two-, maybe three-team race in the Central this year. Cubs, Cards and Beermakers are going to battle this year.

I doubt the Cards are gonna do anything, they have no rotation.

I think the reason he didn't get more was his age. I like Jeff Suppon but he is years older than Jason Marquis. I know that Jason Marquis had very high ERA but LaRussa let him take a few bullets for the team last season. If you take those 2 terrible outings out of his numbers his ERA is lowered by 1.15. Both Suppon and Marquis have had success in St Louis but it was not on a consistant basis. The Cards don't want to shell out the money and the players are not offering huge hometown discounts to them that is the Cardinals problem
