catching situation

i think the cubs should really get a guy like Jarrod Saltalamacchia...the braves really have no place to put him and maybe we can trade a starter for him

I posted something earlier that the Braves scare me a little about getting Griffey, instead of us. I read earlier in the year that Saltamaccia or McCann would be one of the biggest chips to have come trade deadline. Of course the Braves have them both in their back pocket. Saltamacchia seems like the real deal though, I think he will be better than McCann- if not already. I think it would take a boat load to get him.

Soto, today looked ok- he went 0-5 - but hit 2 balls on the nose, he did k twice looking, but he blocked well and we had a shutout.

there've been a couple of discussions on here about salty, and while i definitely think the cubs badly need a "franchise" catcher i would rather we'd taken weiters in the draft than have to go down the trade route. but thats another point altogether...

i go back and forth on salty, to be honest i would prefer russell martin, but there is no way in hell the dodgers would let him go, whereas the braves would saltalamacchia. but i think it would probably cost us something huge, like z or lee

Division? maybe.... Playoffs, no way. We need some sort of offense from every position 1-8...and on the days we have Marquis and Z on the mound, even better. But it would be so nice to have the 7-9 positions on base when Soriano comes up the the plate in the later innings instead of having them almost guaranteed outs.

At least he made contact...today Bowen looked absolutely clueless striking out twice and looking foolish doing it. This catching situation is untenable; they MUST do something and quickly. It's obvious that Bowen doesn't have what it takes to hit major league pitching and Hill isn't much better. Plus they continually throw into center field when someone tries to steal second.

Highly doubt he's gonna catch. He might have brought 4 gloves, but Hill and Kendall are gonna be fine.

I can see this guy getting some time in RF, but nowhere else. I mean he may play a game while Lee is suspended at first, maybe 2 since Ward is hurt now. With Floyd hurt again- I think we will see him in RF. I am a little worried about a back up SS now. Dero could go over I guess, but I definately dont want to see Font back there.
