Took a few notes for anyone who missed the interview

* Doesn't worry about the weather having a effect on aggravating any players injury's like Soriano's legs or Kerry Wood

* Would of liked to aquire the player (Roberts), would of improved the ball club. Wasn't like we were going after 5 2nd baseman, we have a good player in DeRosa there.

* Bullpen has really come together

* Happy with the pickup of Johnson, just fell into our laps.

* Had a solid minor league system last season

* Top of the order is going to have a question mark, but with 2 days to go until opening day, the player is still with his team (Roberts, O's) and can't blame them for wanting to keep one of there best players.

* Doesn't bother him that people are slating him for not getting the deal done, neither did it bother him that people said he shouldn't get Roberts after Mitchell report.

* Top of the order will work it self out, if what they have during the season doesn't work wont hesitate to go out and get something new.

* Nobody knows for sure if Murton will make the team, anything can happen before opening day, injuries etc.

* Wont give Matt Murton away

* Will try and find a deal for him for some decent prospects or someone who can help the team now.

* Wouldn't mind keeping him in case of injury.

[I don't understand what this means?] we have a good player in DeRosa there.

* Bullpen has really come together

* Happy with the pickup of Johnson, just fell into our laps. [A very good omen - the gods favor the Cubs in 2008]

* Had a solid minor league system last season

* Top of the order is going to have a question mark, [It may be time to consider Mr Pie. Although waiting a bit to see how he does when it all counts would make sense.] but with 2 days to go until opening day, the player is still with his team (Roberts, O's) and can't blame them for wanting to keep one of there best players.

* Doesn't bother him that people are slating [slamming ?] him for not getting the deal done, neither did it bother him that people said he shouldn't get Roberts after Mitchell report.

* Top of the order will work it self out [Pie, Pie - ole' Pie.] , if what they have during the season doesn't work wont hesitate to go out and get something new. [I have no doubt he will - somebody of quality. Maybe he'll get a true everyday SS in the process.]

* Nobody knows for sure if Murton will make the team, anything can happen before opening day, injuries etc.

* Wont give Matt Murton away [Excellent - I needed to hear that.]

* Will try and find a deal for him for some decent prospects or someone who can help the team now.

* Wouldn't mind keeping him in case of injury.

The server demon wouldn't accept just editing the above quote so I am adding this meaningless nonsense so that my reply will post - sorry!

I feel we're really ready for 2008.

Hey SK no problem at all.

What he meant by the 5 2nd baseman thing was that it was just Roberts they wanted, it wasn't just to replace DeRosa, but for the overall value Roberts would of been nice, he has no problem with DeRosa as the second baseman

Slating does mean slamming.

" ..... What he meant by the 5 2nd baseman thing was that it was just Roberts they wanted, ..... "

I'm going to read between the lines and interpret that as Hendry's way of saying that Baltimore's requests were stupidly excessive and perhaps insulting. McFail's comments earlier didn't sound like the negotiations ended in an entirely friendly mood either.

Thanks for the trade not made Jim ! Get a lead-off man elsewhere or try Pie if he can sustain his pace.

Thanks for posting the synopsis by the way.

You know just from his tone i got the feeling that the negotiations had ended badly, ut obviously he could not say anything about it.

No problem

Gallagher,Veal & Ceda are all still in the system. This is a good thing. The Cubs AAA rotation should be very good with: Marshall,Gallagher & Veal & Samardzja joining it soon.
