Twins Complete Monroe Deal, Cubs get Doug Deeds

Twins Complete Monroe Deal, sends Minor Leaguer Deeds to Cubs

Red Wings outfielder and Rochester resident Doug Deeds has been traded to the Chicago Cubs.

Deeds is a career .291 hitter who batted just .243 in 86 games with the Red Wings last season. He made Rochester his offseason home after his wife, Rebecca, landed a job as manager of a beauty shop at Eastview Mall.

Deeds was on the disabled list with a strained hamstring at the time of the trade and has not played for the Red Wings this season. He completes the deal that brought outfielder Craig Monroe from the Cubs to the Minnesota Twins last November.

Itís expected that Deeds will report to the Cubsí Triple-A team in Iowa.

The Red Wings host the Syracuse Chiefs tonight at 7:05 in the Frontier Field opener.
