I'm fairly confident Ricketts will not let him make any trades without approval.

Then again, Ricketts thinks it's cool for the Cubs to have a slogan (It's a way of life!!!), so I don't know what to think anymore.

The Cubs have had a slogan every year, it has just been magnified this year. A couple years ago it was something like "Play like there's no tomorrow" with huge billboards of each player around Wrigley...

At this point, I want someone like Maddux making the baseball decisions! At least he has shown he has some baseball smarts

well he's been in baseball for how long?... I'd say he knows what it takes to build a team and knows talent when he sees it

Based on him being in baseball for a long time and everyone that's been around him says he knows his baseball. Believe it or not, not everything is backed by stats.

He's going to ask you to show him the stats. It doesn't matter what you say or do it'll find a contradiction or argument.

This is what you said:

How do you know that Maddux is a good talent evaluator? What talent has he exactly evaluated? How do you know "he knows what it takes to build a team"? What teams has he built, or had a hand in building?

You are making wild assumptions, based on the fact that Greg Maddux was a great player. But being player, and being in the front office making personnel decisions, are two greatly different things. Under your qualifications, Mike Morgan is gong to be a great GM, int he future.

To suggest that Maddux could be a good pitching coach, makes sense...
because he has a history in the pitching department.

No stats...No facts...Just use common sense!
