Will Quade be our manager next year ?

He may just be. People in power don't like to admit mistakes. When Jim Hendry hired Lou , Bob Brenly and Joe Gerardi both interviewed for the job. If Jim hires either Bob or Joe , wouldn't the logical question be , " Why didn't you hire him first time ? "

With Jim's job being questioned by most fans , he may be very hesitant to open himself up to any such questions.

Quade is a Chicago guy and a personal friend of Hendry's.

If he gets the job I think I may become a Brewer fan!

I don't think that Quade is going to be the long-term solution for the Cubs. The easy money is either going toward Girardi (a former Cub and proven winning manager) or Sandberg (a Cub legend who paid his dues in the minors).

Sandberg, Torre, Brenly or Girardi.

Unless the Cubs go on a tear and win 75% of the games from here on out Quade doesn't have the pedigree.

They are going to push hard for Quasimodo. Quade is a minor league manager. If they plan on fielding a minor league team , he will be our next manager. No matter how bad Brenly wants to be a manager again , he won't take it if they won't load the gun for him. Joe Gerardi may want the Cub job but he will choose Yankee success over Cub failure .

The selection of the new manager is a dog and pony show unless the front office is changed.

People can be excited as they want to be about Sandberg, it won't matter a lick if the teams stays on the current path and philosophy

Sandberg has been gaining experience in the minors for this exact reason. Why wouldn't he get the job. It has always been the plan for Ryno to manage this team, has anything changed? Besides, look where the big named managers have gotten us in the past 8 seasons!!

Plus, Ryno has been producing winning teams at Peoria, Tennessee and Iowa during his time in the minors. He must have something to this managing gig.

How is Sandberg not going to be a 'big named manager'??

He'll be under just as much pressure than those guys, if not more since he'll be expected (unrealisticly) to both turn the team around and start winning again.

I really think Quade is the horse to beat. I am not saying he is the best choice by any means , it is just that using history , he will be the choice.

This team has operated in you typical big business fashion. The people in upper management has used the CYA principle to guide most of their decisions. Quade will give the best cover when the team he fields is proved to be subparr. By not choosing Gerardi , who is the best option , or Breny it won't open up Hendry to questions about his earlier hires. If he puts Ryno in he will have a guy working under him that will have much more ca-shay the Jim could ever hope for and you could see a fight here much like the Ozzie - Kenny battle on the south side. As with the hiring of Lou-the-Legend you can't violate the #1 rule in business and dare to hire anyone you can not fire !

Each time I think that Ricketts may trump Jim's choice I am reminded that he has done nothing as of yet to show that he will be this kind of owner.

Remember Krane Kenny is still president of operations !!! It will be up to that idiot to rubber-stamp Hendry's pick !
