Awesomeness. Pure awesomeness.

I just got back from a 4-day baseball mini-road trip with my brother and sister. We hit the O's/Yankees in Baltimore to see one of our former town boys and an independent league game in Washington, PA for the same purpose. Monday and Wednesday we saw the Cubs in Pittsburgh. It was such a ridiculous amount of fun!
On Monday we hadn't even planned on going to the game, but just decided to go, spur of the moment. So we went up to PNC Park early in the afternoon to get tickets. After that, we didn't really have anything to do for a few hours till the gates opened and my sister suggested we walk around the stadium (she wanted to see all the statues.) We're walking around and see this area where there were a few Cubs' fans milling about. We wondered aloud whether that could possibly be where the players go in... it certainly seemed worth checking out. So the three of us walk over and just walking in is Geovany Soto. It was kinda like, whoa! Talk about a fluke... for the next hour+ we stood there in the hot sun (with no more than 10 other people) and watched our guys come by. Not everybody but a pretty decent chunk: D-Lee, Harden, Marmol, Soriano, Gaudin, Reed Johnson, Kerry Wood, Rammy, plus Lou Piniella and Len Kasper. The only downside was we'd left all autographable materials in the car. But my sister got Johnson and Wood to sign the shirt she was wearing and I took as many pictures as I could (I'm kind of a sucky photographer.)
We were more prepared during BP and were able to collect signatures from Dempster, Neal Cotts and Rich Harden. I was mostly just playing photog the whole time, but I got Harden to sign my ticket. I have to say, he was seriously awesome with the fans. He didn't just sign, he was very talkative and smiley (my sister asked him something about Oakland's fans compared to Chicago's, to which he replied that Cubs fans are "way better.") I like him even more now!
Of course, the games were much fun as well. Everyone knows what happened there, though- so I'll spare the details.
The whole trip was just darned exciting. Thanks for letting me share/brag.

That sounded like so much fun !! great story . I would love to go to PNC it looks beautiful on TV . If I ever hit the lottery I would love to spend a summer following the Cubs and hitting all of the ballparks .

Sweet pics. I am really getting a kick out of Aram's tan lines on his arms.
