Some stats for you

I don't know if any of you will find this interesting, but I was curious about it. So, I ran through the results from all the games this season and compiled the following stats about how many runs each game was won or lost by. And since it seems like June 3rd was the magic day when our season started turning around, I'll split it up to before June 3, after June 3 and totals:

I can't get the spacing to work out to look right, but you'll get the idea...

Apr 2 - June 2 June 3 - Current TOTALS
W - L W - L W - L
1 run games: 2 - 12 11 - 3 13 - 15
2 run games: 5 - 6 3 - 3 8 - 9
3 run games: 6 - 4 3 - 0 9 - 4
4 run games: 0 - 4 3 - 4 3 - 8
5 run games: 1 - 3 2 - 0 3 - 3
6 run games: 4 - 0 3 - 1 7 - 1
7 run games: 2 - 1 0 - 0 2 - 1
8 run games: 1 - 0 1 - 1 2 - 1
9 run games: 1 - 1 1 - 1 2 - 2
10 run games: 0 - 0 0 - 0 0 - 0
11 run games: 0 - 0 1 - 0 1 - 0

Most noticeably is how we've improved in 1 run games. We still haven't won as many as we've lost, but we've turned it around dramatically. Anyway, I don't know why I'm posting this, just thought someone out there would be interested in this like I was.

Thanks and GO CUBS!!!!!

Jim

Pretty interesting there. I don't know if everyone knows about the turnaround in the close games. The close ones mean more to me.

Oh yea, I was noticing the turn around in the close ones. Those ones really matter because it shows that the bullpens really improved.

The hitting has seemed to come through in the clutch more than it did earlier as well.

Yea that's true too. Ramirez has been amazing in the clutch lately. I still remember waiting for my food at this pizza place and they had the game on the tv where Ramirez had his walkoff home run. I got right as the bottom of the 9th started, so I saw the entire thing. It was amazing. Me and a few other Cubs fans that were there were going nuts.

I think it's just a matter of the Cubs firing on all cylinders. The pitching has been good as well as the offense and defense...also the baserunning has improved a lot. Everything has come together.

Great stat... One run games are key. The bullpen has found a groove for the most prt and the team is finding ways to score runs. I think we're something like 27-13 on our last 40.
