I wear my Cubs' stuff all around all the time, through the good and bad. I'm not ashamed.

It's not about shame. Living in St Louis as I do, I have NEVER been ashamed to wear my Cubs hat. It's definitely not shame. It's the fact that I am still very, very pissed off and probably will continue to be pissed off well into next season. I ordered a Blackhawks cap to replace my Cubs one. I have worn the Cubs hat a couple times because the Hawks cap is on backorder, but just down to the deli on the corner since i didn't feel like brushing my hair. Once it gets cold enough, I don't plan on wearing anything but my Hawks stocking caps that did come in. This year hurt. Maybe it didn't hurt as much as 2003, but with 2003 and this year, having two serious heartbreaks so close together makes it really tough for me to just throw my cap on my head and wait until next year.

I unfortunately live just 60 miles east of St. Louis in southern Illinois... I am a DIE HARD Cubs fan... 85% of the people in this area are Cardinals fans... but I wear my Cubs jerseys religiously in public... I don't give a sh!t.

Cardinals fans harass me all the time... but I put them in their place... b/c Cubs come first, the rest is just blah.

To be honest, something broke inside of me after this ugly, UGLY postseason. Under normal circumstances I would be going nuts for Soto winning the ROY, but this team might have blown the best chance at winning we've seen in a long time, so I'm completely devastated over this.

Oh well, at least something astounding happened this fall, something much more important than a Cubs Championship.

Astounding? Please tell me you're not talking about the election.

I think being a fan simply comes down to wanting your team to win. It comes down to dread losing. I remember seeing Saints fans 10 years ago wearing brown paper bags over their heads. I remember thinking "those are true fans". They loved their team, but hated the losing. Same goes for Phillies fans. They boo when their teams plays like crap. But cheer when they play well. I love how some people would say that approach is wrong. But that approach is called being a fan! They hate losing so much that they can express it! ..... So if your a Cubs fan and you feel disgusted this offseason, that's normal. If you're pissed off and not accepting just winning the division anymore, that's normal. Being pissed off is what being a fan is all about. Their should only be 1 content fan base every season.
