Something about this trade doesn't add up. Thats even listening to Hendry on 670. I don't think its the end of the line.... he has something up his sleeve for Gregg. I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't used in a deal

I agree. I don't see Gregg in a Cubs uniform next season. But it doesn't change the fact that the initial trade for Gregg lost the Cubs both a top prospect, and an all star closer. Big Jim better get something really nice in return for Gregg. And if by some chance he remains with the Cubs, he will be as hated as Bob Howry was last season.

I don't think so. If you think about it the Padres would rather have Jose Ceda. Especially since they are looking to cut payroll. They wouldn't wanna take on Kevin Gregg and his over 3 million dollar salary after arbitration. ... I think the whole Peavy to the Cubs scenario was BS from the start. It was a smart move by Kevin Towers to get more out of the Braves.

Based on what??

Maybe Ceda will, but maybe he won't. Conclusion: Gregg is a proven major leaguer, Ceda is not.

Here's why this is an awful trade right now regardless of wether or not Jose Ceda is a bust: Jose Ceda is the Cubs #3 ranked prospect. On top of that he's ranked overrall as a 4* prospect. So Ceda has a high value in baseball circles. And all the Cubs could get for this highly ranked prospect is Kevin Gregg. This trade shows how overrated the "closer" label is. Because if Gregg didn't have any saves under his belt he'd be looked on as a very average pitcher. Marlins fans are dancing in the streets today. They won't miss Gregg and his 9 blown saves last season.

Keith Law, a very well respected ESPN analyst who 2 years ago ranked Ted Lilly as a better Free Agent option over Barry Zito, stated today that the Marlins pulled off a "Heist" in the Gregg deal.

Instead of crying all the time when people disagree with you. Or taking threads off topic because another poster out debated you on a topic. Why don't you just try to counter with a decent rubuttal of your own as it pertains to the topic. If you can't do that then simply keep quiet and debate another topic. You cry baby posters who throw a fit when you are proven wrong get old fast. I'm not always right and either is anyone else, but i'm still able to debate like a normal human being. ..... So please quietly cry to yourself about the Cubs and their 120 million dollar payroll being cheap. The Phillies and Rays would tell you payroll/ownership had little to do with their success this season.
