Tribune Live Kaplan says Marmol is our closer!

I was watching Tribune Live, kaplan says his source says the Cubs made up their minds that Marmol is our closer.

I'm not going to believe anything until it comes directly from Cubs management because so many outside "sources" are inaccurate.

Pretty good spring for the kid:

4 appearances, 4 games finished, 4 innings pitched.
16 batters faced: 2 walks, 2 hits, 5 Ks, 0 runs allowed, .143 batting ave. against.
WHIP: 1.00

And he could easily carry that kind of performance into the season ! Wood, Howry and Eyre might be exceptional set-up men as well. The Cubs 8th and 9th innings are looking to be in very good hands.

The one good thing I can think of about Marmol being closer is he won't be overused by the end of the season

Its obvious to me that Marmol was the closer of choice when spring training started. My guess is that Wood and Howry will be the 7th and 8th inning right (obviously ). Howry is making me question his ability to shut down the other team this spring. For a large part of the last season, I was almost sick when Lou pitched Howry, just like when O-Man came in. I really hope Eyre and Howry bounce back for 162 games, because this team really needs them.

I also have reservations of Howry,Eyre now I feel that last year Lou put him in easy situations to build up his confidence,Eyre got rocked last time up ,I know its spring training but Eyre wants to make a good impression on Lou because it seams Lou likes to win ,I think with Lou it does not matter if its spring training or a regular season game.

My question is how can ANYONE even know who the closer might be since this team cannot even make it to the 9th inning with a lead.

It's still early!!
