Guzman could be out for the year

Kaplan, others are reporting.

Zambrano is the last 2002 pitching prospect left standing.

Just came across twitter through many sources that he has a ligament tear in the shoulder, he will be shut down, but if they opt for surgery, it could be career threatening.

I think I'm keeping score right

A) rotation - Samardz, Marshall, Gorz, Diamond (losers probably go to pen)

B) in - Marmol, Grabow, Caridad

C) dudes on 40 with options - Stevens, Berg, Parker, Gaub, Atkins, Dolis, Mateo, Patton

D) dudes not on 40 - Mathes, Perkins, Russell, Kinnard

Dl'ed probably - Guz, Gray

sucks - Silva

so I guess assuming Silva gets cut and Gray and Guz start year on DL, two of the guys on lists C&D make the team; at least until Lilly gets back.

**** that sucks about Guzman, that would have been a decent pen if Grabow/Marmol don't walk the world.

I really wish we had gotten Burrell right now. Even if it is ST, I pretty much hate Silva already. he's the only player I can think of that did absolutely nothing to get in shape and be prepared for the season, and he even sucked before that, so you'd think he'd want to make a good first impression on his new team.

IMO rhe Cubs essentially traded one clubhouse cancer for a less talented one with an additional six million they can blow on players like John Grabow or Nady.

I don't get worked up with relief pitcher expectations one way or the other. It seems that you can never tell how they will do over a season until it is over. They tend to have such up and down years. Just because one had a good year last year you can't expect them to repeat it.

IMO, in todays game RP are are as important as anything just about. Many get wrapped up in an ERA. IMO, ERA'S when regarding relievers are blown way out of proportion. 3 or 4 bad outings a year can kill an ERA. I look at strikeouts and hits allowed
