Dempster

Am I the only one who gets really nervous every time Dempster comes in to close a game? It would be nice to have a dominate closer where you feel when he comes in the game, it's over. I never get that feeling with him on the mound.

yea, this one's going to hurt

ALot of blame to go around though

You'd hope the Cubs would be able to perform at home in September, but they are the Cubs. If they can't win homestands down the stretch, they don't deserve to go the playoffs.

Yep. I wrote this post as I saw the Cubs were going to bring him in to try and close out the game. Sure enough, he blew it. I'd be nice to have a closer like Rivera where you could almost turn off the tv going into the 9th because you have that much confidence.

Actually, Demp's converted his last 13 saves to the tune of a .195 BA.

This is only his 3rd blown save of the year, but I don't know why Lou used him last night

I know that he has, but didn't he give up a HR to Carlos Lee in one of those saves? He makes me nervous EVERY TIME he enters a game though. I'm just saying that I wish I had more confindence in the Cub's closer than what I do.

Yea, you can blame him for HRs, but you can't blame him for those fluky groundballs.

The offense is the bigger scapegoat for me. Once again, they face a pitcher who is wild in his first few innings and what do they do??? Make baserunning blunders and first-pitch hacks to help him out.

in terms of cost/production, this offense has to be near the bottom of the league, but that's been a trademark of the team the last four years, so why change now??

Dempster is not at fault . He should not have been pitched yesterday . The game today was a loss with plenty of blame to go around. The first two games should not have been a loss . This team is just not that good.
