I guess the Cubs new manager has a lot of respect from his long time childhood friend Tony LaRussa...
"I have a right to state an opinion and when there's a cheap shot against the Cubs I don't want to be a part of it. I want everybody to know that the St. Louis Cardinals and their manager have an absolute disregard for that." -- Cards manager Tony La Russa, who is refusing to speak to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch during the three-game series after the newspaper ran a story making fun of the Cubs' history of losing
-- ESPN.com news services
Tony was irate with this reporter (and it wasn't the reporter who wrote the story in the St. Louis Dispatch
) I have never been a big fan of LaRussa, but it was awesome to hear him say what he said tonight to the reporter after the game. Of the many cheap shots that were passed back and forth during the rivalry over the years, it was nice to hear a little respect coming from the Cards' skipper....
ALTHOUGH ESPN said the only reason he wouldn't comment on it, or talk to reporters from the dispatch was because he didn't want the article to be a catalyst for the Cubs...to get them angry and take it out onto the field with them.
