Kerry Wood
I was just wondering if anybody knows how many 1-2-3 9th innings he has pitched. I know that no closer is perfect, but it seems to me that he lets runners on more times than not. At least that's what my blood pressure would indicate. But, I guess he is also getting the job done. And that's the stat that matters.

I think Brenly was right tonight about pitching to Pierre, except for the fact to get him to pop it up to the LF. I dont know why Soto kept calling sliders or Wood kept shaking off the fastball. I didnt see him shake him off.
Yes Woody does have a little Mitch Williams in him. For you younger fans. Mitch use to walk two , fan 2, then walk another, then get the last guy

He's getting better as the season goes along. I think he focuses more now on the hitter at the plate and less on the runners on the bases. Although it was scary, I am gaining more confidence in his stuff.

No doubt Ryno - he is getting better and better. You can actually count on one hand how many balls have been hit hard off of him this year. 1 being Loneys double tonight and he was safe.

I was in college then when Mitch pitched for us- I used to have to leave the lobby where everyone was watching. He drove me more nuts than does Marquis.

I agree he has been getting better. And i never expected him to be fitting into his role as well as he has this early. Bottom line is he gets the save. It's just I could sure handle a few ballgames in a row where he comes in 1-2-3 game over. Just to give my heart a break. That's all.

I totally understand that. It seems like they have all been close of late. Tonight we jumped out 4-0 , but I could tell the Dodgers wanted that game after being swept at Wrigley. They robbed Rammy twice, Fuku once of hits. They went after it. I like the Dodger starter too. Hes going to be very good./

I have a friend from Philly told me that Mitch Williams almost had his house burned down hen Joe Carter hit that walk off in 93 (92? I forget exactly)
Yeah I was with him to watch our cubbies beat the Phils last year. But, that was then.
