Cubs History: March 25

» An Illinois judge rules that state and city laws which effectively ban night baseball at Chicago's Wrigley Field are constitutional. After being forced to give up a home game during the 1984 NLCS, and threatened with playing future post-season games at another stadium entirely in order to accommodate network television's prime-time schedules, the Cubs had sued to overturn the laws.

» Elvin Tappe will be this season's first head coach for the Chicago Cubs, who have operated without a manager since 1960.
I would be interested in hearing some of the fogpoggers on here that were around for the college of coaches in the early '60's that Elvin Tappe was part of.
Baseball season's underway...
So you'd better get ready for a brand new day
Hey Chicago whattya say?

Yeah, Mickey probably remembers. I'd be interested to know how the fans took it. I know it wasn't well rceived around the league.

I've read about it, and it seemed like a real stupid idea. Way to go Phil Wrigley...

I actully saw a book over the weekend (I should have bought it, but I'm still reading "Whatever Happened To The Hall Of Fame?" by Bill James), but it's called "1908", and it's about the 1908 pennant race b\w the Cubs, Giants, and Pirates. It looked pretty in-depth. I actually think I'm gonna pick it up on my way home...

I'll have to look for that book. I am currently reading A Few Chosen by Santo, while I am waiting for my copy of Wrigleyville to come in.
